European Rowing Championships 2021

As we return to the Tyne and start up training, across Europe in Varese this weekend saw the long awaited return to racing in at the European Rowing Championships after a long 20 month hiatus.

Amongst the teams there were three NUBC alumni: Tom Ford and James Rudkin as stern pair of the GB Mens 8+ and Emily Ford in the 6 seat of the Women’s 8+.
Friday saw the prelim race for lanes, with the Men’s 8+ finishing with the fastest time, and the Women’s 8+ being narrowly beaten by 0.33 seconds by Russia to take fourth.

Sunday finals saw the Women’s 8+ race first, where GB rowed a strong race and finished 4th, narrowly missing out on the medals. The day finished with the Men’s 8+, where GB took the gold, adding to GB’s overall topping of the medals table.

Promising results for what is hopefully going to be an exciting summer.
