British Rowing Welfare, Wellbeing and Inclusion Award
Harriet Taylor, fourth year medical student, and member of Newcastle University Boat Club has inspired the creation of a new British Rowing Award which aims to acknowledge clubs or individuals who maintain a caring and supportive environment.
After winning University Crew of the Year in 2024, Harriet realised that the chats with coach, Alex Leigh, every Wednesday surrounding women’s health, sports bras and how this affects performance was a unique experience. She wanted to encourage the sharing of knowledge and practices in order to create a supportive environment, both on and off the water.
Harriet’s role as Welfare Officer reaches far beyond our boat club, and she is inspiring positive changes for rowers across the UK in helping to create this award.
