Two of these eights qualified for side-by-side racing, with our third eight missing out by just 0.1 seconds, making themselves the fastest non-qualifiers in the Colgan Foundation Cup.

After racing the Time Trial, the first eight drew Oxford Brookes A. In a gutsy race, they held contact almost the whole race, until the last 200 metres where Oxford Brookes drew away from Newcastle to take a 5 second win.

After their Time Trial, the second eight drew Bath University’s B crew. In a race that they led from the start, they crossed the line ten seconds ahead of their opposition. For their next race, they then drew the eventual winners, Oxford Brookes’ A. In another gutsy race, they held contact for the first 600 metres before Oxford Brookes broke contact, and took the win by just 5 seconds.

A valuable weekend of racing, setting both of the top eights up for Henley Royal next weekend.
