Tyne Single Scullers Head

Ran by Newcastle University Boat Club, Tyne Single Scullers Head brought clubs to the river Tyne to compete over 3km in Singles, Doubles and Pairs.

NUBC put out 15 crews, four women’s pairs, a women’s double and three women’s singles; and three men’s pairs, two men’s doubles, and two men’s singles.

Edward Ridley and Gwilym Johnson

In the men’s squad, Gwilym Johnson won the Open Singles Band 2 category; and in his double with Edward Ridley, won the Open Doubles category as well. Robert Redpath won the Open Singles Band 4 category, and Bert Papworth and Lucas Bowed won the Open Pairs category.

In the women’s squad, Megan Johnston and Mary O’Donnell won the Women’s Pairs category.

It was a very successful and enjoyable day of racing, with a great atmosphere, only made possible by the volunteers and clubs who joined us on the day.
