Henley Women’s Regatta

Henley Women’s was very successful for NUBC, with five boats qualifying for side-by-side racing, and being the first club to ever qualify three eights for the Aspirational Academic Eights event.

Championship 8+: Raced Edinburgh on Friday evening in their first round, and beat them by 1 1/2 lengths. The next day, this eight came up against the eventual winners, Durham University and Leander Club where they lost by 1 1/2 lengths.

Aspirational Academic 8+ A: This eight had a very successful Henley Women’s, making it all the way to the final where they eventually lost in an exciting race to Oxford Brookes by 1 1/4 lengths. In the heat, they beat Bristol University by 2 1/2 lengths, then went on to beat Nereus by 1 1/3 lengths the next day in the quarter finals. In the semi finals, they came up against Durham University who they beat by 1 1/4 lengths, in order to progress to the final.

Aspirational Academic 8+ B: Drawing the “C” crew in their first round on the Saturday, they won by 3 lengths. In the quarter final against London University on the Sunday, they lost their race by 2 1/2 lengths.

Aspirational Academic 8+ C: Being one of 16 crews to qualify for this event, this eight drew the “B” boat as their first race, and put up a good fight but ended up losing by 3 lengths.

Championship Lightweight 2-: This pair won their first race against Cambridge University by 4 1/2 lengths on Sunday morning, then raced that afternoon against Barnes Bridge Ladies, and went on to win Parkside Trophy for Championship Lightweight Pairs Event by 2 lengths.

The attention of the second and third eights now turns to Henley Royal Regatta Qualifiers next week.
